Elizabeth Kelley is a criminal defense lawyer with a nationwide practice focused on representing people with mental disabilities. She has appeared in state and federal courts from Anchorage, Alaska to Naples, Florida, and has helped clients in more than 25 jurisdictions.
Her practice represents individuals facing charges who live with conditions including autism spectrum disorder, bipolar disorder, major depression, dementia, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, schizophrenia, traumatic brain injury, PTSD, and intellectual disabilities. She is the editor of Representing People with Mental Disabilities: A Practical Guide for Criminal Defense Lawyers (2nd edition, 2024) and companion guides on autism spectrum disorders and dementia, all published by the American Bar Association, and co-author of Cybercrime and the Autism Spectrum (Routledge). She serves as a Vice Chair of the ABA Criminal Justice Council, served three terms on the board of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and was named a Fulbright Scholar in 2023.
