Ron Bauer is a venture capitalist and entrepreneur with over 25 years of financing early stage and growth businesses. He is focused on the Life Sciences, Technology, EdTech and Natural Resources sectors, where he has created several exciting ventures side by side some of the world’s leading entrepreneurs and scientists as well as world class academic institutions that include Oxford, Cambridge, Stanford, Harvard, Cornell, Vanderbilt, Columbia, USC, McGill and Hebrew University to name a few. He is the Founder of Theseus Capital Ltd, an investment vehicle for his holdings and consulting.
Ron has a track record of nurturing innovative concepts and supporting dynamic entrepreneurs, academics and scientists, consulting them from early-stage angel and seed funding all the way through to public mergers, reverse takeovers (RTOs) or initial public offerings (IPOs) as well as trade sales with larger companies, both public and private, as well as special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs), where he has been involved in a number of target companies merging into SPACs. He is experienced in the M&A and Corporate Finance aspects of business and seasoned in the Capital Markets. He has been a major shareholder and principal investor in several companies that trade on leading senior stock exchanges in the USA, Canada and the UK.
Ron was the Co-Founder and Director of Turkana Energy, which merged with Africa Oil (TSX: AOI) in July 2009. The company went on to have a peak market value of over $3 Billion CAD, having raised more than $1 Billion of equity after Tullow Oil successfully drilled Turkana’s oil concession, Block 10BB. The project has since had over $2 Billion of investment with first oil being delivered to the port in August 2019. The project is now operated by the French Oil Company, Total, in partnership with Tullow Oil and Africa Oil.
Ron has been the principal and founding investor in several biotech, MedTech, tech, fintech, AI and natural resources companies. He was a principal and founding investor in 180 Life Sciences (NASDAQ: ATNF), Pasithea Therapeutics (NASDAQ: KTTA), Stran & Co (NASDAQ: SWAG), Genflow Biosciences (LSE: GENF), Trio Petroleum (NYSE: TPET), Hemogenyx Pharmaceuticals (LSE: HEMO), and Cognetivity Neurosciences (CSE: CGN).
Ron has a proven track record of raising capital across all sectors and all geographies in ever changing market conditions. By far Ron’s greatest personal quality is his ability to adapt himself to changing economic climates and diversifying sectors. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Cambridge.
Ron volunteers his time to many charitable efforts and mentors several founders on their journey to raising capital and scaling their businesses. Ron is heavily invested in assisting the Justice Impacted Community as well as founders or entrepreneurs who have been justice impacted or have gone through the criminal justice system and need guidance, motivation or assistance in overcoming additional challenges of starting up a business or raising capital. Ron has found great joy in helping others and plans to dedicate as much of his time to charitable endeavours in the Justice Impacted Community. Ron works closely with the formerly incarcerated as well as those going through their journey in the criminal justice system.
Ron is actively involved in justice tech businesses that help those affected by their criminal records receive a second chance, guidance and mentorship on their journey to rehabilitation and redemption. Ron understands far too well, the price we all pay for our past mistakes but also why we should be given the fair chance and opportunity to correct our behaviour and look towards a brighter future.
Ron was indicted in April 2022 by the Department of Justice, pled guilty to one count of conspiring to commit securities fraud and entered into a plea agreement in November 2024. In May 2025, Ron was sentenced to 20 months incarceration and two years of supervised release. Ron understands the Justice Impacted Community and what they are going through as he went through a three-year journey in the criminal justice system in the United Kingdom and the USA himself.
