About Sam Mangel
Sam Mangel is a federal prison consultant and advocate who specializes in helping individuals prepare for and navigate the federal prison system. He works with clients throughout the Federal Bureau of Prisons system and provides ongoing support during incarceration. As he says on his websites, he “helps federal defendants get back to their lives.”
He works closely with clients, families, and legal defense teams, serving individuals from all backgrounds including CEOs and corporate executives, physicians, attorneys, politicians, financial professionals, tech founders, foreign nationals facing U.S. charges, and business owners.
Mangel holds a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and spent years working in international business. He built and operated a major life settlements brokerage in the United States before selling the company in 2011. After serving 21 months at FCI Miami and successfully completing the RDAP program, he dedicated his career to helping others facing federal incarceration. About Craig Rothfeld
Craig Rothfeld is a criminologist, criminal justice advisor, and founder of Inside Outside Ltd., where he advises and advocates for individuals incarcerated in NYC Department of Correction, NYS Department of Corrections & Community Supervision, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, and other state prison systems (CA, CT, FL, NJ, TX, GA) as well as with individuals on parole or reentering the community.
His practice focuses on pre- and post-sentencing mitigation strategy, advocacy, and navigating life during incarceration, working closely with clients, families, and legal defense teams. He has also consulted for various organizations including The Fortune Society, supporting reentry initiatives and alternatives to incarceration.
Mr. Rothfeld holds a B.S. in Accounting from SUNY Albany and an MBA in Finance and International Business from NYU Stern and previously worked for approximately 20-years in financial services while also holding a CPA license for a decade. After being released from prison, he also earned a Post Graduate Certification in Criminal Sentencing & Sentencing Advocacy and a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice from Arizona State University. He teaches Continuing Legal Education courses for multiple New York bar associations, is an 18-B mitigation specialist, and has served as a retained expert in a New York State / Federal dual-jurisdiction death penalty case.
